real wedding invitations: katie + simon

So… it seems it’s almost the middle of January – welcome new year, you – and yet I am still not sure where 2014 went?! I can already see 2015 flying by at much the same cracking pace!

We had a great year that was, designing and printing beautiful letterpress wedding invitations for lovely couples – and really, there’s almost nothing I would rather spend my time doing (except perhaps lying by a pool somewhere tropical, drinking wine with a 24/7 babysitter on hand… mmm… but let’s focus on wedding invitations for now shall we?)

Let’s take a peek at the gorgeous suite we designed and printed for Kiwi couple Katie and Simon. Married at the Band Rotunda in Auckland Domain, Katie and Simon’s wedding was full of personality from start to finish.

In the words of the bride:

“We got so many compliments on our invitations – everyone said that they were so “us”. We tied them together with a copper clip that had a heart stamped into it – made by a local jeweller that made Simon’s wedding band and the bridesmaids’ jewellery.”

Katie… you had me at “copper clips”.

The couple chose our Portland design for both their save the dates and their letterpress wedding invitations, which we letterpress-printed in deep navy ink onto 100% cotton ivory stock, and paired with matching envelopes.

To complete their suite, we also created matching Portland-style info cards and gift registry cards, digitally printed in subtle but stylish nude ink.

For the big day itself, Katie and Simon gifted beautiful vintage agee jars filled with homemade muesli to each guest. Each jar was tied with a personalised name tag, which cleverly doubled-up as a placecard, and some of our baker’s twine in nude – very cute! We also created stand-up folded menus and mini cards to announce the assortment of cakes at the dessert table.

It’s always so satisfying to see a client’s wedding photos and be able to understand exactly how our stationery fitted into the bigger picture of the day as a whole and the couple’s personality – and for Katie and Simon, we can clearly see how Portland was the perfect design for their day.

How sweet is this lovely video that Katie and Simon made?! And what a great idea to create a short video for friends and family to enjoy. Funnily enough, it also features one of my favourite songs (‘Don’t Wait’ by Mapei).

And now for some shots of their stunning wedding day (all photography by Coralee Stone):

I love all the personal touches Katie and Simon injected into their day – it’s clear this wedding was a very intimate, fun and personalised affair. And how stunning is Katie’s Rue De Seine gown?! (My word… if I was a bride in NZ looking for my wedding dress that label would be top of my list).

There’s nothing nicer than a wedding that speaks loudly of who the couple really are, don’t you think?

Katie and Simon, it was such a pleasure to work with you for your wedding invitations, and all the very best for married life ahead! xx
